If you’ve ever opened your refrigerator only to discover a number of the items have already expired, or perhaps your gourmet skills extend to what you can put in the microwave, on some toast, or really just whatever’s in the freezer.
LG Electronics has plans to launch a smart refrigerator in India. Along with the usual, users will be able to take advantage of features that makes recipe suggestions based on contents, and it will also indicate the expiry dates of products stored inside with the help of sensors inside.
The Smart Fridge will include a ‘Health Manager’ feature that can offer meal plans and recipes for the coming week- factoring in a family’s profile and medical conditions, making the fridge extremely useful for improving your diet and helping you make the most of your shopping. You can even use the refrigerator’s LCD panel, or a smartphone, to shop for your groceries online.
Compared to other products they will be priced at a 10% premium, but do boast a more efficient power consumption.
LG Electronics believe that the best way to compete in the complex Indian market, it’s necessary to set themselves apart by offering products with a focus on making life easier for those who use them.
With that in mind, they also plan on launching a new robotic vacuum cleaner that will also include, ultrasonic and infrared sensors so as to avoid collisions or even scuff marks, making cleaning more efficient, and convenient.
They will also be launching a washing machine that adjusts the intensity of the wash based on what dirt is present on your clothing.
Technologies like these may well start cropping more frequently all around the world. We’ve adopted the smartphone, it’s fitting that we strive to innovate our other technologies as well.
