Have you heard of “meta-city”? It’s a networked urban world of smart infrastructure and ubiquitous data. It could be an exemple of how future cities will look like!
The cities we work, live and play in are already changing because of explosive innovations, adoption of computing mobile devices and a rich source of data. They are expanding to offer richer experiences for the citizens.
The meta-city is a hybrid digital physical environment, meaning that information about your surroudings are showed in a real-time digital landscape to create a data-rich view of the functions within a city. So the smart city of the future wil display a lot of helpfull information. Just by looking around, you’ll be able to see where that bus across the street is going, when it is leaving an how to buy a ticket. You’ll see when the weather is going to turn bad, what’s on the fourth floor of that building in front of you and where you can charge your phone.
In this video, produced by frog, a technology and interaction design firm, the meta-city is visualized. There are already a lot of conversation about smart cities, with lots of talks about new, innovative, real-time and smart technologies. So it is nice to see a visualization of this to have a better picture of how it could really look like in the future.
